KOREAN THREAD LIFTING

Korean Thread Lifting is a ‘Revolutionary’ treatment and technique developed by Korean plastic surgeons in recent years. Using a series of different types of thread fed through by long needles, the skin is lifted and supported at the subcutaneous level which gives the treated area a firmed and tightened look with a marked improvement in skin tone, as well.

The thread used is made of  PDO or PolyDioxanOne, the same material used for surgical sutures, so it will dissolve and be gradually absorbed by the skin. Different types of thread are used for different areas and to achieve the desired results.

WHY GO FOR IT?

There are many types of threads used in Korea Ultra V Threadlift, mainly cog threads and mono threads, but they are all made using polydioxanone (PDO), which is a dissolvable suture material commonly used in other surgical treatments. This material is very safe for use as threadlift as it has a long history of being widely used safely in many surgical and medical indications and, as a material, has hardly ever caused any side effect.

Threading also purports to stimulate new collagen growth and generation of elastin. The suture is made with a PLA (PolyLactic Acid) coating, which is the same material that is used in Sculptra and Dermaveil, two collagen boosters. In addition the thread is absorbable.

It is used to create a slimming effect. In particular, it's used to achieve the look of a  ‘V’ shaped face. It’s also used to ‘slim’ upper arms, and reduce the appearance of double chins.

The threads also include vitamin C, which also helps with wound healing and recovery.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

As we age, our facial skin support structure weakens and we lose facial fat, especially around the cheeks, the eyebrows and other areas around the eyes, the jowls and the neck. The result is a longer, rounder, older-looking face.

As the skin ages, the connective tissue in the skin also becomes thinner. The elastic fibres in the skin undergo a type of breakdown. Thus the face loses some of its elasticity. The lack of elasticity brings with it the loss of certain face-shaping supports. The face begins to wrinkle, sag and droop. Younger people may experience cheek and brow ptosis caused by weakened muscles as well.

For these people especially, a thread lift may be a good alternative to the more invasive procedures necessary to correct problems in older people's faces. Threadlifts emerged recently because many people would like a facelift but can't afford it or don't want the long recovery time of the standard facelift. Threadlifts cost less and require less downtime for many people, as good as a “lunchtime lift or a weekend facelift.* Usually it can be performed in under one hour.

The thread lift provides an actual “lift” and is a minimally invasive procedure.* It lasts for 1 to 2 years and in a milder form, matches the effect of brow lift or a lower face and neck lift.*

WHAT AREAS CAN BE THREADED?

Areas which are commonly treated with thread lifting are:

Face– Threading can be used to combat forehead lines, can be used to lift eye brows and cheeks, to smooth under-eye areas and nasolabial folds, to alter the appearance of the nose and slim the jawline.

Nose –Threading is used to straighten and elevate the nasal bridge, to lift the tip of the nose and subsequently narrow the width of the nose.

Neck – It can soften lines, slim the muscle to decrease the look of ‘Linebacker Neck’ and slim the arms and improve the appearance of ‘bat wings’.

Abdomen – Threading has been used to lift skin on the abdomen, but with mixed results.

HOW LONG DOES THIS LAST?

Korea Ultra V Threadlift can last for approximately 1 to 1.5 years, depending on your age, lifestyle, and facial movement patterns. As more collagen is produced over time, the results of the Korea Ultra V Threadlift will also gradually become better and peak at approximately 6-9 months after the procedure. An advantage of the dissolving threads is that additional threads can be inserted at a later date if further lift procedures are required.
